Testimonials of Dhrti Yogis 2011

Krishna Pillai

My friend says after his workout he feels like overtaking all vehicles, but after yoga sessions, I feel the other way. I have been practicing for the last 20 months at Dhriti under the guidance of Satya. Let me be frank here, that my flexibility was nil when I started. It took a year to do Sirasana, but it does not matter either to me or Satya. What mattered was after 12 months I felt going upside down and was in Sirasana. That has taught me patience is required more than eagerness.

I was at gym before Yoga. At the maximum, I can equate gym to physical asanas of Yoga. But then it leaves a lot of remainder that has been taught at Dhriti - pranayamas, dhyana, dharana , trataka, cleansing, chanting, yoga nidra, satsang, food habits, yamas , niyamas, breath counting techniques, friendship with breath, self-learning, retreats, and the list continues.

On one side few Yogis struggles to be in Vajrasana while other few trying to make the handstand seamless. Here we are never at peer pressure in Yoga. My colleagues at Infosys could see lot of changes in me. I have lost my sense of competition, extra possession of wealth to name a few. Now I feel increased flexibility, lighter, taller, and less anxious.

Life is not just working, earning and spending money, became aware that there is a long way to go – "And miles to go before I sleep."

"I am now practicing yoga about 1.5 years. Well, whatever I say about my yoga class at Dhrti and my teacher Satya is less. When I started yoga at Dhrti, I was in dire need of something which helps me re-build my self-esteem, confidence, and bring positivity back to my life. Satya you helped me to get everything back. I remember initially whenever I did any pose, you encouraged me loudly. Those encouragements really helped. All the balancing poses helped me to increase my concentration level. But my favorite is "Simhagarajnasana". Right now I feel fit and can work for longer hours without getting tired.

Actually there are many more things to say, but on a bigger scale Satya your guidance helped me to re-start my life. So thanks a LOT.

"I have been practicing yoga for over a year now with Dhrti. From the initial and most common objective of weight loss, the yoga sessions has now transformed into a "getting to know me more" session. Satya has a very dedicated and connected way of conducting the session which helps each of the practitioners understand why something is done, the need to undertake it and the ultimate benefits. I am glad to have taken the decision to join Dhrti despite my busy schedule and extended commute. Today I can surely say I feel much healthier, happier, energized, and active.

Thanks Dhrti and thanks Satya for doing such a wonderful job".

I've been practicing yoga for around 6 to 8 months, with some gaps in between. From my experience till now, I can say that yoga is more of a lifestyle option and it should be taken for lifelong to get good results. After my 3 months practice continuously, I have slimmed down, bit more peaceful and energetic.

My intention was to control my thoughts to be content with what I have today. Other benefits I expected were weight loss, inner peace and of course, and good night sleep. Satya, you are very good teacher when it comes to connecting with your students. These days, I look forward to your classes mainly because you are the guru.

Simply put, I have progressed well in getting a good flexibility. I can do some yoga poses today, which I was not able to do on the first day I joined. When there is some progress, one gets motivated a lot. This gives the sufficient enthusiasm to me.

Although I would prefer mornings - 7am batch, I'm coming for your 7.30 batch because I have been regular with the timings. I'll continue doing it until I get a good control on my body. Then I'll join the morning batch.

Practice makes man perfect and so I'm planning to get teachings from you as long as I'm in Bangalore. By then, I expect to master all poses and get better control.

Wishing you all the best!

Tirtha

I started thinking about it myself what is the output last 4 months of Yoga Practice. I knew I enjoyed the session because, unlike an evening at the Gym, it doesn't exhaust my last remaining energies at the end of a hard day at office. Rather, when I leave the studio, I feel kind of good, and at peace with myself.

I live in a rented apartment. Incidentally, 3 of my college friends stay with their families too in the same building. We used to be room-mates in our college days, and few years of our early work life too. Later, when all got married, we were lucky enough to find rented apartments in the same building. Our busy work lives permit us to catch up only over weekends. So this weekend, while we were chatting, in the midst of discussion about good old days, bad economy, and outrageous petrol prices, one of my friends asked me that "Dude, have you been working out? Cause you look healthy and thinner". I knew I found my answer. Thanks to Satya and Thanks to Dhrti.

Hi, I am doing my MBA and married. First of all I would like to say I just love the way meditation is done. For me, yoga has been very useful and after joining at Dhrti. I feel very relaxed and calm. I feel totally refreshed after each session. It's a blend of everything taught and not just yoga asanas.

Hi, it's wonderful and pleasure learning yoga with Satya. She gives us lots of positive energy and always challenges ourselves. I feel the kind of flexibility I am gaining.

I like this journey coz it is helping me to come out of ambiguity in thinking. I am fine with the timings offered at Dhrti.

I heard people doing 120 or 60 surya namaskaras a day. Hope we have some plans to scale up as well.

Smitha, Test Engineer, SAP LABS

Yoga has helped me a lot in my work. It helps me to keep my cool in any situation. Lately has helped me to think easily which i used to find a bit challenging.

With respect to my life, Yoga has given me lot of mental strength and ability to stay composed. It has made me realize how important our health is and how lucky we are to be so fit which is exactly the reason why i want to continue practicing always. Apart from this, I want to have a great body :)

I absolutely love the way Satya teaches both theory & practical. It's very inspiring and there is always something I don't know be it theory or practical. I look forward to every single class.

Thanks for everything!

Sapna

I have been associated with Satya since October 2010. I am like the typical software engineer who does most of the job sitting & gazing at computer and who has to travel long distances to reach office. I started losing flexibility in body & started getting stiff due to lack of exercise. Yoga has helped me in many ways. Apart from increasing flexibility, it also helped me in concentration. I have learnt yoga when I was in college where we do just asana but in Satya's classes we chant matra as well as do Asana. The positive vibrations that is felt is such a great experience and best of all I liked the joythi trataka practice. She has always seen the practitioner's flexibility and once we get comfortable in a pose, automatically she takes us to the next level. So there is always something new to learn in her class & learning never stops

This is a good initiative thought to let us tell what we feel. I had this in my mind for a while to express how the changes have occurred in me and now I have the chance.

It's been a journey of seven months. And the passion that Satya have for yoga has rubbed on me so much so that I have started to be more focus and regular. Yoga has brought about that attitude in me which was hidden in me for time sometime. Like, the way we see life. With god's grace I have been bestowed with healthy body, but was lazy to make use of it in an optimum way. So to say now my mind is alert, active and positive all the time which in turn has good affect on my physical strength. I feel AWESOME!!

My intentions were to feel active and healthy more so from inside. The practices and the lessons (read them as yoga pose) taught has been mind blowing!!! LET ME GIVE OUT SECRETE IN SHORT. "I joined to find out what yoga is all about and found the real meaning which is to know yourself better, to feel happier, to be positive always, to be cheerful, to be nice and live a healthy and good life!! I say it's been a blessing........

God bless you Satya.

I happened to join Dhrti Yoga just two months back because of knee problem and allergy with cold, and in just two months I can feel the difference in my knee and immunity. I am really grateful to Dhrti Yoga and the way teaching has been offered with care, proper guidance and motivation to do my best. It doesn't only make me feel strong physically, mentally as well to manage my personal and professional life. I expect I can establish my health and train my will over here.

Dear Yogis,

I take this opportunity to thank Satyaji for giving me and my husband Krishna (who is also practicing Yoga at Dhrti for the past 2 yrs) a wonderful Yoga training. Satyaji has got very deep knowledge about different aspects of Yoga. Her encouragement, knowledge about the physiology and anatomy of the body, different peoples body abilities to do the practice, the way she teaches us mantras, and of course her always smiling face makes her teaching extra ordinary. She is so dedicated in teaching us different asnanas everyday so that boredom fatigue is avoided.

I am a mother of 2 children, and after delivery of my second child which was a C-Section, I started experiencing lower back ache. Though my bodyweight was always almost on a normal range, this back ache (because of the spinal injection they give during C-Section) especially early in the morning and neck and shoulder pain because of unknown reasons started troubling me. But after I started my Yoga practice now I am free of all aches and pains. For that I am really thankful for Satyaji's training. Her teaching helped me to do my daily household works also with more dedication and concentration. And last but not least she taught us how to live a Simple and Happy life.

Arun Hari

My primary motivation to starting off on yoga lessons was due to my liver condition. After 8 months of a hepatitis attack, my bile count was not dropping below normal, despite taking strong medication (including steroids) and having strict diet control. I checked my count last week, and for the first time since mid-2009 it has come to normal levels, and I am sure that the yoga practice has contributed largely to this improvement.

I wanted to express my sincere gratitude to Satya for her patience and guidance during the recovery. My family is extremely relieved to hear this news.

Namita,

I have been practicing Yoga from close to year with breaks on and off. I work as a doctor and have an active work-life.

Firstly this is only ME time I get for myself thrice a week with pure focus on just myself without any errands on my mind. Yoga has helped me in becoming stronger internally. My shoulders can definitely bear better weight now, and feel lighter, better stamina and immune system. Inspite of having to run around at home with my busy toddler and active work life, I definitely look forward for the challenges in each session and every pose I progress to do is self-satisfaction of achievement for my inner-self.

Satya's role as a teacher has been superb for me, and inspires me to travel 3km in morning for the session. In fact, I used to dread the thought of yoga earlier imagining it to be a slow session with a yoga teacher who is subdued in energy but Satya has great energy, excellent encouragement for trying out new poses, good variety of lively classes, and guess I cannot be happier. For me morning workout timings are apt. Overall for me, I have discovered Yoga is for ME for lifetime :)

His wife Sindhu, and their 8-year-old son Samarth Jain has been practicing yoga with Satya. The whole family could feel the bond getting stronger with every passing day. The most profound effect was on Samarth, a tiny kid coming along with his mother daily for practice from tender age of 3, developed such a strong liking for yoga that he confidently participated in his school, BGS, International, in various competitions enacting as yoga guru and then yogi-traditional and modern securing the first best position. Manish, himself is one of the wonderful examples who could win over the harsh weather of Kazakhstan by practicing yoga daily. Dr. Mahesh Chandra Panda, M.B.B.S.M.D.

After my retirement from the post of Chief District Medical Officer Bargarh Orissa in Feb 2008, I joined Dhrti Yoga BTM 2nd stage, Bangalore on 28.07.2009 as a yoga practitioner, in the classes meant for elderly persons, conducted by Yoga instructor Vijaya. Initially I attended only two classes (1 hour each) in a week. From September 09, it became three classes and then from October 09, five days in a week right from Monday to Friday.

I was one of the participants to visit SVYASA University, Jigani campus, Bangalore on 30.08.2009 in a visitor's trip arranged by Dhrti Yoga Studio for Detox program. Our yoga instructor, Vijaya, accompanied us in the trip. There were demonstrative lecture, practical demonstrations of yoga practices, visiting arogyadham & spiritual talks by students & faculty members of the institution for the visitors.

As an honorary physician, I participated in collecting and recording measurements of blood pressure & pulse rate of practitioners of different sessions, which is part of Dhrti's health checkup program to understand how the practitioners are progressing. On 10.01.2010, I as a diabetic and yoga practitioner of Dhrti yoga attended Mega Diabetic Awareness Camp at Jayanagar organized by SDM project undertaken by SVYASA. I have been registered in case study in the project "Stop Diabetes by Yoga".

On 26.01.2010 at 10 A.M. a guest lecture was arranged by Satya, Director of Dhrti Yoga studio, delivered by Dr. Ramu on the subject "Astrology is Science". I had the opportunity to felicitate the guest speaker on behalf of audience and Dhrti Yoga studio at the closing ceremony being called upon to stage by the Director, Satya.

By practice of yoga, my diabetic status is now under control and I have again become physically & mentally active in my post retirement life. During the last seven months since I resorted to yoga practices, yoga & spirituality have become the ways and means of my life.
